Luxe Island Bumper Boat Case Study: How a Soft Blue Custom Colorway Influenced 60 Additional Orders
In 2026, QIQU supplied 20 custom soft-blue commercial PE bumper boats for Luxe Island, Chengdu. The project used a customer-matched color reference, pure white bumper collars, water cannons, canopy systems, hidden staff controls and upgraded battery configuration. After the boats began operating, the same color direction influenced approximately 60 additional bumper boats from 4 other domestic operators.

In early 2026, Luxe Island in Chengdu contacted QIQU for a batch of commercial PE bumper boats for its lake attraction. The site was not looking for a loud, toy-like ride. It needed a fleet that could fit a premium waterfront environment, attract families, photograph well, and operate reliably during the May holiday season.
QIQU supplied 20 custom commercial PE bumper boats with soft-blue rotomolded hulls, pure white bumper collars, water cannons, canopy systems, hidden staff controls, custom lighting settings and upgraded battery configuration.
The project later became one of our most important color customization cases. After the boats began operating, other scenic-area and lake operators saw the Luxe Island videos on Chinese short-video platforms and asked for the same soft-blue hull and white bumper collar direction. Based on QIQU’s internal order records, this colorway influenced approximately 60 additional bumper boat orders from 4 domestic operators between May and August 2026.
Why the Color Was Not a Small Detail

Most bumper boats in the market use bright red, yellow, blue or mixed amusement colors. Those colors work for some parks, but they do not always match a resort-style lake, a premium community destination or a family leisure island.
Luxe Island wanted a cleaner visual language.
Instead of choosing a standard factory color, the customer sent us a physical color reference. QIQU tested the PE material color until the molded sample matched the customer’s approved direction. Only after that confirmation did we start production.
Inside QIQU, we later began calling this direction “Luxelakes Blue.” It is not a public color code. It came from this project: a soft-blue PE hull, a pure white bumper collar, white hardware details and a calmer, more premium look than traditional amusement colors.
For B2B buyers, this is the real point: color is not decoration. On a public-facing ride, color affects how the attraction fits the venue, how visitors photograph it, and whether other operators see it as a project worth copying.
The Color Had to Fit the Venue, Not Just the Boat
Luxe Island’s bumper boat area used the same soft-blue visual direction in its on-site signage, which explains why the boat color had to match the venue instead of using a standard amusement color.
For operational context, the Luxe Island public price board listed a local rate of ¥98 RMB (approx. $14 USD) for a 30-minute boat rental. Please note that this is the venue’s own pricing and does not reflect QIQU product pricing.
The soft-blue direction was not chosen in isolation. Luxe Island already used a clean, light-blue visual language around its bumper boat rental area, including signage and guest-facing information boards. The boats needed to look like part of the destination, not like equipment dropped into the lake from a generic amusement catalog.
This is why the hull color, white bumper collar, canopy frame and visible hardware were all adjusted together. For resort and lake operators, visual fit can affect more than appearance. It influences first impressions, family photos, social sharing and whether the attraction feels appropriate for the ticket price.
What Was Customized for the 20-Boat Fleet

The Luxe Island order was based on QIQU's commercial PE bumper boat platform, but the visual and operating details were adjusted around the customer's site requirements.
The customized scope included:
- Soft-blue PE hull color matched from the customer’s physical sample
- Pure white reinforced PVC bumper collar
- White and soft-blue bumper strip design
- Four bumper collar anchor points instead of the earlier two-point layout
- White handles, white canopy frame and white-painted exposed metal parts
- Water cannon system with hidden control logic
- Hidden staff-only operation panel
- Adjustable maximum speed setting
- Custom music and adjustable volume control
- 24V 150Ah lithium battery configuration with stainless steel battery housing
- Extended charger cable for easier charging management
These details matter because resort and lake operators are not buying a single ride in isolation. They are adding a public attraction into an existing operating environment. The boat has to look right, run steadily, and be easy for staff to manage.
Timeline: From Deposit to Holiday Operation
The first inquiry came in early March 2026. After technical details, motor configuration and operating requirements were confirmed, the customer paid the deposit on March 18.
Production did not start immediately because the customer later requested the custom color. In April, QIQU worked through the PE color matching process using the physical reference sample provided by the customer. After the color was approved, production took about two weeks.
The boats were shipped at the end of April and arrived at the customer’s site in 3 days, allowing the attraction to be prepared for the 5-day May holiday operation period.
For seasonal attractions, timing is not a minor issue. A delay of one or two weeks can mean missing the strongest visitor window of the year. That is why serious B2B buyers should confirm color, logo, battery configuration, voltage, site layout and delivery schedule before production begins.
What This Case Proved
A real scene showing the QIQU pirate bumper boats in full daily operation at Luxe Island in May 2026, with visitors riding on the urban lake.
This project proved three things that are useful for other resort and lake attraction buyers.
First, a bumper boat fleet can be designed to match a premium venue instead of looking like a generic children’s ride.
Second, custom color can become a commercial signal. When visitors film and share the attraction, other operators do not only see the product. They see a working project that fits a real site.
Third, customization only works when the factory can control both appearance and production. Matching a soft color on PE material is different from choosing a paint color on a screen. The final molded color must be tested, approved and repeated across the full batch.
Lessons for Resort and Lake Operators
Photo taken on-site at Luxe Island on June 22, 2026.
If you are planning a bumper boat project for a lake, resort, scenic area or waterfront leisure zone, do not start with the boat price only.
Start with the operating scene.
Ask these questions first:
- What type of visitors will use the ride: families, children, couples or groups?
- Should the ride look playful, premium, tropical, natural or branded?
- Will the boats be photographed and shared on social media?
- Does the color need to match nearby buildings, docks, uniforms or other attractions?
- How many boats can the water area safely support?
- Do you need staff-only control, adjustable speed or custom music?
- What holiday or opening date must the project meet?
A better bumper boat project is not always the brightest one. It is the one that fits the site, attracts the right visitors and keeps operating without creating unnecessary management problems.
If your main concern is not color direction but water condition, see the Malaysia bumper boat model selection case study, which explains how QIQU matched kids bumper boats and pirate bumper boats to lake and still-water areas.
How QIQU Supports Similar Projects
QIQU manufactures commercial PE bumper boats for parks, resorts, lakes, FECs and scenic-area operators. For custom projects, we can support hull color matching, logo application, bumper collar color, canopy color, lighting settings, water cannon configuration, battery options, charger cable requirements and operation-control details.
For buyers who already have a venue, we recommend sending water area photos, dock layout, expected fleet quantity, visitor type, preferred color reference and target opening date. This allows us to judge whether a Luxe Island-style soft color system is suitable, or whether another visual direction would work better for the project.
A commercial bumper boat is not just a small boat. For a lake operator, it is a visible attraction, a family photo point, a ticket product and a repeatable revenue asset. The equipment should be selected with that full operating logic in mind.
For buyers evaluating hull structure, motor configuration, bumper collar design, capacity, packaging and customization options, see QIQU's commercial PE bumper boats product page.
For buyers who want bumper boats but do not have an existing lake or pool, the Peru support-frame pool bumper boat case study shows another project path: using a support-frame pool to create a water ride area.

- This case shows that bumper boat customization is not only about appearance. For a premium lake attraction, the right color system can affect how the ride fits the venue, how families photograph the experience, and whether other operators see the design as worth replicating.
- QIQU supplied 20 commercial PE bumper boats with a customer-matched soft-blue hull, pure white PVC bumper collar, custom logo, white canopy frame, white-painted exposed metal parts, water cannon system, hidden staff-only controls, adjustable speed setting, custom music control and upgraded 24V 150Ah lithium battery configuration.
- Luxe Island is a premium lake and family leisure destination in Chengdu. Bright primary colors can work well for children’s parks, but they are not always the best fit for resort-style waterfront venues. The soft-blue hull and white bumper collar created a cleaner, calmer and more premium visual language.
- “Luxelakes Blue” is QIQU’s internal name for this color direction. It is not a standard color code. It came from a customer-supplied color reference, repeated PE color-matching trials, and the strong market response after the boats started operating at Luxe Island.
- Yes. Buyers can provide a physical color sample, brand color reference or design direction. For PE rotomolded products, color matching may require testing before production because the final molded color must be stable, consistent and suitable for outdoor commercial operation.
- Yes. After Luxe Island operating videos appeared on Chinese short-video platforms such as Douyin, several operators contacted QIQU and asked for the same soft-blue hull and white bumper collar direction. Based on QIQU’s internal order records, this colorway influenced approximately 60 additional bumper boats from 4 domestic operators between May and August 2026.
- This color direction is especially suitable for resorts, lake attractions, scenic areas, premium campsites, waterfront leisure parks and family-oriented destinations where the ride must look clean, calm and photo-friendly instead of loud or low-end.
- The Houston case focuses on public media exposure and visitor demand in a U.S. park setting. The Luxe Island case focuses on custom visual design, premium venue matching and how one color direction became a reference for other operators.
- Buyers should send their venue photos, water area size, target visitor group, preferred color reference, logo file, expected quantity, budget range and target opening date. These details help QIQU judge whether the design should follow the Luxe Island style or use a different color system.
- Yes, but it should be used with purpose. The Luxe Island colorway works best when the venue itself has a clean, resort-style or family leisure positioning. For high-energy children’s parks, carnivals or night events, a stronger color system may perform better.
